Leaders are learners. You’ve all heard that.
But you have to be intentional about remaining teachable. It’s not automatic.

Matter of fact, as you climb in influence you more easily naturally reject being consciously influenced.

Learn to take things personal but not personally.

  • Personal – you’re the boss; everything matters; nothing is “not my job”; you care about it more than anyone else if you’re the leader (or you should).
  • Personally – they’re attacking your character; you get offended because you’re too emotionally attached to an initiative; you are insecure; you care more about “me” than “we.”

Hopefully it’s always personal.
